My approach during the individual and group sessions is theoretically influenced by the teachings of Karl Gustav Jung, Melanie Klein, Irvin Yalom and is equally enriched by the different places around the world where I have lived: Mexico, England, Bolivia, Colombia, Canada, India and Greece. My interaction with people from different cultural backgrounds and my daily life in places very different from each other such as snowy Canada, the high altitude of Bolivia, the tropical jungle of the Amazon, the Mediterranean of Spain and Greece, and rainy London are experiences that guide my openness with empathy, alertness and insight as a therapist.

Through the writing of my book “Birth as you Please” and the painting of each woman’s birth story, I realized that art has infinite possibilities and expressions in humans and their lives that help them discover their authentic qualities and unify their personalities. In the last ten years, my experience in group and individual art therapy in various parts of the world together with my studies in Art Therapy at the Hellenic Art Therapy Center, frame my therapeutic person-centered and non-directive approach.

Art is more than just expression, it is a human need that connects us to our inner truth and wisdom.

Art can reach the heart in a respectful and safe manner when words are not enough.

When I started the experiential seminar “Art for the Soul”, I was in a quite difficult, transitional period of my life. I had a lot of anxiety in the beginning and was not comfortable, but I wanted to give it a chance because art is something that has always helped me in the past during difficult times in my life.

Xristina, as an art therapist, made me feel safe from the beginning. In each group session, I slowly began to feel lighter and trust the group and Christina. I began to feel like I belonged and that I could be myself. I loved the fact that we did dance therapy and drama therapy.

Although as a person I don’t like being the centre of attention at all, these therapies gave me courage and when I let go, I felt relief.

I happened to have 2 individual sessions with Xristina because the other members of the group couldn’t make it and I felt it was very beneficial. Christina was sensitive and understanding and through my art, she helped me to understand some things about myself that I wasn’t ready to accept before.

The art I created, along with the beautiful music that Xristina had chosen, helped me realize that I will always feel comfort through art, even when what I am feeling at the time is scary or difficult.

Thanks to the whole team for their trust and sharing. I also thank Xristina for her sensitivity and acceptance.

Mostly, we are really busy with life even we don’t realise the passing time, but with art therapy you can feel the moments and yourself even if it is for short time.

It is more than one year that I am doing online Art therapy with Xristina and I love it. She is very friendly and kind. Since I have started Art therapy, I can completely feel changes that happen to me and my inner child.

Art therapy taught me to deal with life patiently and release the pain of the problems that I faced in the past and not carrying with me unconsciously.

I think Art therapy is for everyone and I one hundred percent recommend Xristina.

My friend and I experienced an Art Therapy walk last week, facilitated by Xristina.

It has made me think more into the idea of acceptance, understanding the past and how it “colours” present life, and of course living in the moment…in a non-judgemental way.

Thank you very much! I would recommend to all.

I attended the seminar “Art for the Soul”. Nice way of expressing yourself with tools like painting, clay, music. Art helps the subconscious to express itself, it is a representation of our personal microcosm. The therapist with knowledge, with a correct approach to the subjects and with a very positive aura!

Marianna

A “thank you” to all the women who have illuminated the rough path I have chosen. I embrace me as a child, as an adult. Sometimes in the darkness, sometimes when I see a little light. Always embracing my fears, I try to be authentic.

Christina M.

In Xristina’s group again-I loved the journey into myself and my soul. My vision became clearer and my eyes brighter! Thank you Xristina and my Team!

The Book “BIRTH AS YOU PLEASE” | Amancaya Xristina

Twenty-one mothers, women who gave birth, from different corners of the world (Canada, USA, Bolivia, Russia, Brazil, Belgium, France, Greece), joined their voices in the book “Birth As You Please” and shared their birth stories to inspire, empower and support the right to choose how, where, when and with whom to give birth. A book where the diversity of the birthgiving experience is depicted through colors and words and where art becomes the medium that elevates human existence and captures the essence of motherhood.

As a visual artist I found in my motherhood journey the inspiration to contribute to the higher cause of motherhood. I wrote Birth As You Please because I felt an urgent need to add ideas, creativity and research to the dialogue around how childbirth can become more human and how women, people who give birth, all over the world, in many different cultures, can inspire each other to rediscover their capacities to give life.
