My approach during the individual and group sessions is theoretically influenced by the teachings of Karl Gustav Jung, Melanie Klein, Irvin Yalom and is equally enriched by the different places around the world where I have lived: Mexico, England, Bolivia, Colombia, Canada, India and Greece. My interaction with people from different cultural backgrounds and my daily life in places very different from each other such as snowy Canada, the high altitude of Bolivia, the tropical jungle of the Amazon, the Mediterranean of Spain and Greece, and rainy London are experiences that guide my openness with empathy, alertness and insight as a therapist.
Through the writing of my book “Birth as you Please” and the painting of each woman’s birth story, I realized that art has infinite possibilities and expressions in humans and their lives that help them discover their authentic qualities and unify their personalities. In the last ten years, my experience in group and individual art therapy in various parts of the world together with my studies in Art Therapy at the Hellenic Art Therapy Center, frame my therapeutic person-centered and non-directive approach.
Art is more than just expression, it is a human need that connects us to our inner truth and wisdom.
Art can reach the heart in a respectful and safe manner when words are not enough.

The Book “BIRTH AS YOU PLEASE” | Amancaya Xristina
Twenty-one mothers, women who gave birth, from different corners of the world (Canada, USA, Bolivia, Russia, Brazil, Belgium, France, Greece), joined their voices in the book “Birth As You Please” and shared their birth stories to inspire, empower and support the right to choose how, where, when and with whom to give birth. A book where the diversity of the birthgiving experience is depicted through colors and words and where art becomes the medium that elevates human existence and captures the essence of motherhood.
As a visual artist I found in my motherhood journey the inspiration to contribute to the higher cause of motherhood. I wrote Birth As You Please because I felt an urgent need to add ideas, creativity and research to the dialogue around how childbirth can become more human and how women, people who give birth, all over the world, in many different cultures, can inspire each other to rediscover their capacities to give life.
